Orange Is In * Pete Simple * Electric Touch
Orange Is In - (Houston, TX ) Founded in the late 90s’, orange is in brings together a variety of disparate influences – including 60s pop, 80’s post punk and rootsy Texas rock – to create a sound that is uniquely their own. It is energetic rock with a decidedly mature sensibility.
The band, made up of veterans of the Texas music scene including George Kovacik (vocals), Jeff Balke (bass), Chris Rogers (guitar) and Steve Salazar (drums), has won fans throughout the state.
Orange Is In is one of those bands that keeps chugging for the grown-ups. The band's new EP, Come and Take It, revels in this hard-won maturity with cautionary tales, rootsy rock songs laced with elegant violin, and singer George Kovacik's Costello/Springsteen-esque vocals.” -- Sara Cress, The Houston Chronicle
“The best thing about Orange Is In is that their music is straight-ahead rock’n'roll. Nothing pretentious or fake here.” -- David Cobb, HoustonCalling.net
“On Come and Take It, it’s evident that the band has spent a lot of time together crafting music that’s important to them – music without posturing or pretense.” -- Adam P. Newton, Envy Magazine
Pete Simple -(Houston, TX) Petesimple got its start in early 1999 when Pete met Doug Parmer in the University of Houston Marching band and asked he and Devin Collins to join he and his drummer Susan to play some gigs. Doug having his own trio with Pete and Susan made this an easy reality. 3 EP releases, six side projects and one new member (Elissa; on violin) later Petesimple Released their 1st full length album in the November of 2004 (election day, yay) in good ol' Houston. Many gigs to follow, Pete toured the United states with new found Bass/Beatboxing/singing side man Ian Hammer. Bringing Folk-Boxing into the Lime Light in the Midwestern United States. Not long after Pete went on a short tour through England catching the release of the Revenge of the Sith at Leichester Square in London. Lots of fun. Now back in the states, ready for another tour, and a new reformed mega band with Mark Lewis (keys) and Richard Cholakian (drums), Petesimple waits patiently for "that gig" that puts them on the map and brings them to that next level.
Electric Touch - (Austin, TX) - "Electric Touch drew a record crowd. The laid-back and easy-going atmosphere of the MSC's Lunchbox Concert Series almost automatically prevents it from drawing large crowds. Despite all that, Electric Touch managed to draw possibly the largest crowd on Wednesday the Lunchbox Series has ever seen. More importantly, the band accomplished what every band hopes to do - they connected with the audience and the audience loved them for it.
The kind of showmanship and presence displayed by the four-piece band is one usually reserved for artists that have been playing far longer than Electric Touch. While the individual members have had previous experience with other bands, Electric Touch has only been together for little more than a year. In that time, the band has managed to gain quite a following and the members have established themselves as serious artists. Skeptics need only look at the band's upcoming touring schedule - which includes appearances at Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo Music Festival and Austin City Limits - to dispel any doubts as to where this band is headed." - The Battallion
