Mice and Rifles * Tody Castillo*Jude/Ross
Mice and Rifles - (Austin, TX ) mice and rifles came together as a whole in January 2006. The songs you hear are where this all begins...with country music. The old country music. Jailtime, wrecks, telegrams, family and, of course, women. Please visit our website to find links for itunes and cdbaby. Available in Austin, TX @ Waterloo Records, Cheapo Discs and End of an Ear Records.
"No luck to it; Mice & Rifles fire with steel-eyed precision." Doug Freeman, Austin Chronicle
"...evoking the sense of loneliness and isolation that all good country music should." JohnnyOthers, www.indieoma.com
"...this group's a jarringly sharp entry into Austin's next-big-alt-country-thing sweepstakes, a contest that seems to have been going on since the cosmic cowboy era. Plain-spoken vocals somewhere between the honky-tonk and the Parish plus wide open Neil Young-esque guitars equals a pure prairie pleasure." Joe Gross XL, Austin American-Statesman
"...this might be the most country thing about mice and rifles songs---choosing the heartbreak, loneliness and internal struggle with regret all for the sake of the song." www.austinsound.net
"Dark pasts and forlorn memories are riddled throughtout the counrty-esque debut of mice and rifles." Carson Barker, Austin Music Magazine
Tody Castillo -(Houston, TX) 4-3-08 HI, The good news is that Go Digital Records has officially re-released my self titled record. It looks and sounds great along with the bonus track San Antonio! The even better news is that my new record is done being mixed and on the way to being mastered by our good friend Jeff Lipton at Peerless Mastering in Boston. We’ve settled on 11 tracks. This record far exceeded my expectations. Now we start on the art work as well as finding a home for the cute little sucker. We started recording this thing last June and it’s been a wild ride ever since. It was a slow, wild ride but none the less it was WILD! Lots of coffee in the Tree House, as well as laughter and foul language, non of which made the record. My copilot/co producer Steve Christensen who made it to Texas via Norway (or Sweden) millions of years ago, won the spirit award for his magic touch and wizardry. Eddy Hobizal took home the mvp award and you’ll soon know why, while Chris Masterson won coolest guy, most popular and most likely to succeed award. For funniest clown and therapist, the award goes to...Ryan Biddle. Those are all the awards I’m handing out now. I still have a list of players that are up for awards as well. Stayed tuned for those and for possible sound bytes. Get ready, Tody
Jude/Ross - (Austin, TX) "Bands to Watch: Jude Ross, just in general, because he's a great songwriter and should be making a killer record somewhere, even if he doesn't mention it on his MySpace." - Austininst
