Sad Like Crazy * Rossi Mision

DrunksSad Like Crazy - (Austin, TX ) Sad Like Crazy was formed in 1998, in Houston, by Mari, Trey, and Gram.

A while later, Thane joined. We knew him from before, you see.

Then, Gram moved to California. After he left, we started consuming drummers at an alarming rate. There was Jeremy, Piam, Christian, Will, maybe some more. After those guys, Thane and Trey handled the drumming themselves. Talk about sloppy, shitty music. Anyways...

In 2001, we put out our first album, Love Songs to Death. The title has a double meaning. Get it?

After LSTD came out, we played shows around Texas for a while.
A year or so later, we put out our 2nd album, Populist Octopus. Can you figure out what that one means? Trey made it up while he was stoned and he used to be able to explain the meaning. Now when you ask him, he just mumbles stuff like, "power to the people, use both your hands, flarghk..."

After Populist Octopus came out in 2002, we played a show. It was the last one for a long time. Mari, it turns out, was all pregnant with a baby. Trey's baby, it turns out. As it turned out, the two of them got married a while back and tried to keep going along in the band like everything was normal. But hell no it wasn't. They were married and now they had a baby coming.

So the band died a squeaky, grimy death. Boxes upon boxes of unsold cd's sat in the garage. The horror of it all.

In 2005, Mari and Trey moved to Austin to raise up the baby that was living with them now. A year later, Thane moved there too. After a little while, there was nothing to do. Some of us jogged. Some of us chased storms. It was edgy with boredom. We couldn't wait not to die. Then we said those cursed words that have been uttered so many times before. Those cringe inducing plagues of words, spoken throughout the decades in moments of desperation and folly.

"Let's get the band back together."

And so it went. Late in 2007, after a while of talking about it, we started accepting drummer resumes again. Our eye was caught by one from Tim Lupa. Without meeting him, hearing him play, or inquiring about his religious beliefs, he was in. Fortunately, we later determined he could actually drum.

So that brings us to the here and now. Where we are preparing to do the same shit we always did. Record songs, then try to stand in a room and play them for people. Then try to get those people to take home the recordings of those same songs. That should tide us over for a couple years, anyways.
